History, Mission and Values of Central MN SHRM
History
St. Cloud Area Personnel Association (SCAPA) — originally organized as an informal group of individuals—received its charter from the American Society of Personnel Administration (now known as SHRM) on June 21, 1973. This group of approximately 30 members became the first official St. Cloud Area Personnel Association.
Today, the organization is an excellent resource in the human resource field with a membership of over 150 HR practitioners representing approximately 100 companies. Even though it has grown significantly from the past, the commitment to professional service and quality has remained unchanged.
CMSHRM is a nonprofit organization governed by a Board of Directors who are elected by its members. CMSHRM is a charter member of the Society for Human Resource Management. CMSHRM has earned the prestigious Superior Merit Award from SHRM for its accomplishments from 1992 through 2012 consecutively. This award recognizes excellence in chapter operations and a commitment to providing meaningful programs and services to its members.
